Arsenal top Premier League payments, four clubs earn more than Leicester The Premier League has revealed the payments made to clubs for the 2015-16 season, with four teams earning more money than champions Leicester City. Arsenal were the biggest earners, raking in £101.952 million. Second on the list were Manchester City at £96.972m, followed by Manchester United at £96.477m and Tottenham Hotspur with £95.222m. Leicester come in fifth with £93.22m as they were chosen for live television broadcast in the UK on far fewer occasions than the traditional big clubs. Fifty percent of UK broadcast revenue split is equally (£21.925m for each of the 20 clubs), with 25 percent paid in prize money based on league position and 25 percent allocated based on the number of times a club’s matches are broadcast in the UK. All international broadcast revenue is shared equally. The Foxes were shown live just 15 times, while Arsenal were the most popular choice for broadcasters

SAD!!!…MAN.UTD WILL NOT SIGN “JOSE MURINHO ” The premier league giant, Manchester United who just resolved contractual agreement with Luis Van Gaal in a bid to sign Jose Murinho has met a deadlock as image and property rights stalls the signing process. Issues regarding Mourinho’s image rights remain and still need to be resolved before the appointment is confirmed, though there is little chance of such obstacles scuppering the deal. However, negotiations may now also have to consider the bizarre fact that Chelsea, Mourinho’s former employers, own the rights to his name. The European Union’s Intellectual Property Office database confirms that ‘Jose Mourinho’ is registered as a trademark of Chelsea Football Club Limited. Since 2006, Mourinho has left Chelsea twice and taken charge of both Internazionale and Real Madrid. The trademarking of his name was not a barrier to him managing either of those clubs and it is not expected to be one in United’s case either.

CHANGE OF GUARD AT NYSC

Image
1 There is no need to reinvent the wheel at NYSC After two years as Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Johnson Olawumi was recently redeployed by the military authorities. All factors considered, Olawumi will be remembered as a man who made the scheme more relevant by introducing a slew of innovations and while he will be a tough act to follow, his successor, Brigadier-General Sule Kazaure, should see that as a challenge, rather than as a reason for despair. Kazaure, the 17th Director General of NYSC at a time the nation is facing serious economic challenges, has already promised to prioritise the welfare of corps members and staff and has started well, despite the financial constraints that led to the postponement of the 2016 Batch ‘A’ (Stream 2) orientation course earlier scheduled to commence last Saturday. “I know that the tasks ahead are enormous and the road is rough, but with unity of purpose we will make progress,”

Disquiet In APC As Buhari Shuns Lagos Again Lagos -Why exactly did President Muhammadu Buhari abruptly cancelled his much-publicised two days working visit to Lagos state where he is billed to commission some landmark projects initiated by the state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode? Too many reasons have been adduced for this. While the spokespersons of the president attributed it to scheduling difficulties, others have claimed it was due to last minute security reports made available to the president on the need to abort the trip. Some have also claimed the whole drama has some political undertone which may not be revealed to the average man on the street. Senior Special Assistant to the president on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu while addressing State House correspondents had said “The president is faced with scheduling difficulties and that is the reason for the postponement of the visit. He needs more time for Lagos and for Edo which had earlier been stepped down. As

Buhari Urged to Sack Finance Minister; Put Dangote, Soludo in Charge of Nigeria's Economy Dr. Frederick Fasehun, the National Chairman of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to constitute a fresh economic team to help him pull the country out of its current economic predicament. “A review of the government’s Economic Team shows that it is made up of persons occupying their offices by nepotism and political expediency. Buhari’s current cabinet is an insult to Nigerian economic wizards at home and in the Diaspora," he said. According to him, Nigeria's Economic Team should constitute Chief Olu Falae, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Charles Soludo, former Governor of Central Bank (CBN), and Professor Pat Utomi, a developmental economist. He also proposed such names as Chief Olu Falae, Mallam Adamu Ciroma, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Mrs. Nenadi Usman, Chief Isiaka Adeleke, Dr. Shamsudeen Us

NLC Leader Speaks About Signing of Agreement With FG Over Minimum Wage Factional leader of the NLC, Joe Ajaero, has stated that labour unions won't sign any agreement about minimum wage with the federal government that's unimplementable. The factional labour leader said although his group proposed N90, 000, against N56, 000 by the Ayuba Wabba-led faction, government still had the prerogative to come up with its own proposal of the package it would be able to pay. “If government comes out with its position, the labour movement can crosscheck and counter it, if necessary, before the agreement is signed,” Mr. Ajaero said. On the new prices of petroleum products, Mr. Ajaero said only a properly constituted Board of the Petroleum Products Pricing and Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) had the prerogative to fix fuel price in the country “The last time the Board of the PPPRA was reconstituted was four years. Therefore, even if organised Labour and Nigerians were to c

FG Confirms Spread Of ‘Tomato Ebola’ In Six States

Image
The federal government has identified six states – Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Plateau and Lagos – where the pest, t uta absoluta, also known as ‘Tomato Ebola’, has ravaged the production of the crop. Minister of agriculture and rural development, Audu Ogbeh said this during a press briefing in Abuja, disclosing that the government was making efforts to contain the outbreak. He added that the reproductive nature of the pest, a thriving environment for the pest and a lack of know how to contain the pest, is the reason for the prevailing scarcity of tomato. He denied reports that tomato processing factories were responsible for the scarcity, saying the factories were also affected by the situation. “The pest can also attack even pepper and Irish potato. So we are confronting something quite serious. But the good thing is that we are tackling it right now as experts will commence work immediately,” he said. “We are bringing the commissioners and governors of states to

7 things consummation before marriage could do to you There have been series of talks and advises about premarital sex; whether to do it or abstain from it. The issue of sex in a relationship is a very delicate one. There are series of misconceptions about when sex should be introduced in a relationship and if at all it should be a major key in that relationship. It is pointless saying this but we would say it nevertheless; sex is binding and whether you like it or not, there are some spiritual implications attached to it. No one is here to preach, we would rather be weighing the advantages, ills and perhaps consequences that may arise from the abuse of sex in a relationship. At the end of this piece, it would be totally up to you to decide whether you want to do it or whether you would take a chill break. Either way, you would be the architect of your own fortune. Young ladies who are virgins are always under pressure and do not know if they should give in to the advances of
